Things to Do

Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

What to do every night of this week for fun.

Monday, September 22: Bare Rock
Bobby Bare, Jr. is the son of a country legend, but he’s been doing his own thing in his musical career, and it’s working out pretty well for him. Bare’s moving music has a sweet alt-country sound that’s perfect for fall—and you can catch it live tonight at the Rock ‘N Roll Hotel. 8 PM, $12.

Tuesday, September 23: Air Guitar Championship
Always wanted to be a rock star, but don’t know how to, er, actually play a guitar? That’s not a concern at DC’s first-annual Air Guitar Championship, being held this evening at Wonderland Ballroom. Bring an alias, a great rockstar outfit, and 60 seconds of your best air-guitar-rocking music on a CD. More details on entering and watching are here. 9 PM.

Wednesday, September 24: Tupac’s Resurrection
On Wednesday, the National Portrait Gallery is screening Tupac: Resurrection at 7 in the McEvoy Auditorium. The film, narrated by Tupac, chronicles the hip-hop legend’s journey from the Baltimore School for the Performing Arts to the streets of Oakland and his rise to fame.

Thursday, September 25: Cupcake Contest
Who doesn’t love cupcakes? Better yet, who doesn’t love free cupcakes? Then you better get yourself over to the Washington Club tonight for DC’s first-ever cupcake contest, where anyone can enter their best cupcakes, and the audience can sample them, drink from a cash bar, and mingle at the same time. Sounds like a perfect Thursday night to us. Get more details on how to enter and attend here.
