Thursday, June 16
FARMERS MARKET:
Inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama’s flair for organic gardening, the FreshFarm Market by the White House is the perfect place to shop for pasture-raised meats, artisan cheeses, baked goods, and, of course, farm-fresh produce. Don’t forget your canvas bags! Open 3 to 7 PM.

MOVIE: Run—or tackle—your way to tonight’s outdoor summer flick. Capital Riverfront will be screening The Blind Side as part of its Best of the Oscars Outdoor Movie series. Film begins at 8:45 PM at Tingey Plaza. Free.

MUSIC: The Virginia-based indie duo Birdlips will be performing at the Velvet Lounge tonight. Doors open at 8 PM, Show starts at 9. $8.


Friday, June 17
FASHION:
Don’t miss the final curtain call for VM Photography and Makeup’s fashion photo exhibit at the Dunes (1402 Meridian Place NW, Washington, DC, (202) 834-6576). Plus, some of DC’s hottest vintage shops will be selling their newest and most coveted frocks. Drink specials and tasty treats will be provided, along with tunes by DJ Stereo Faith. Free entry. BARBECUE: It’s a finger-lickin’ good time at this year’s Beer, Bourbon, and BBQ Festival at the National Harbor. Admission gets you an evening of all-you-can-drink beer, bourbon tastings, and juicy barbecue fixings. Live music by Bluegrass. Tickets and VIP passes ($25 to $85) can be purchased at event Web site. 6 to 10 PM.

SHOPPING: What could be better than jewelry shopping with bubbly? ADMK Jewelry is hosting a trunk show at Caramel with free Champagne. Attendees will receive 10 percent off their entire jewelry purchase, plus a chance to win a pair of earrings. Free, 5 to 8 PM.

DANCE PARTY: Hit the dance floor at Rock and Roll Hotel’s Epic Dance Party. DJs Doc Rok and Cold Case will be spinning an energizing mix of electronica, indie rock, and hip hop. Free, 11 PM.

Saturday, June 18
MUSIC:
Drop by the Columbia Pike Blues Festival for soulful melodies, food, kid-friendly activities, and a chance to win a guitar. Performers include Tinsley Ellis, Paul Mark & The Van Dorens, Anthony “Swampdog” Clark, Chris Polk, and The Curbfeelers. Free, 1 to 8 PM.

SPORTS: Clink glasses with fellow DC United fans at Touchdown’s Official Game Viewing Party. Enjoy $1 fish tacos and 10 percent off your tab if you wear the team’s gear or flash your season ticket card. Plus, you could win a jersey, two tickets to the June 25 game, and a fan pack. 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM.

DANCE: It’s time for the CityDance Children and Youth performers to showcase the techniques they’ve perfected throughout the year in The Dreaming Tree. The young dancers will move between different genres of dance, including ballet, Asian/Afro-fusion, and hip hop. Tickets (Children $5, Adults $15) can be purchased through the event Web site. 1 PM.

Sunday, June 19
FATHER’S DAY:

FESTIVAL: To celebrate how far the Argonaut has come after last year’s fire, the restaurant will host it’s first annual Phoenix Fest. The celebration will begin with brunch at 10 AM, followed by festivities at 1 PM—including food and drink specials, a raffle, a moonbounce, a bake sale, and a special appearance by DC fire engines ten and 13 (when they’re not in service). Live music will be provided. Proceeds will benefit the DC Fire Fighters Burn Foundation. Free, donations suggested. Brunch begins at 10 AM.

FESTIVAL: Today’s your last chance to check out the DC Black Theatre Festival. Some of Sunday’s plays include Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters: An African Cinderella at noon, Love Hurts at 2 PM and Black Girl Lost at 5:30 PM. Tickets available at event Web site.

POOL PARTY: Escape the summer heat at the Capitol Skyline Hotel’s Dubsplash Pool Party. DJ Quartermaine, Lucas Smudge, and Supa Qool will spin tunes for the event. Food trucks and seasonal drinks will be at the event. Just don’t forget the sunscreen! $15, 11 AM to 9 PM.
