Rock out at the start of the weekend with DJs Doc Roc and Cold Case and their eclectic mix of funk and old-school hip-hop at the Rock & Roll Hotel’s Beat Market dance party. Drink specials include $3 rail cocktails. The party starts at 6. Free.

Head to Las Tapas (710 King St., Alexandria; 703-836-4000) for its Thursday-night flamenco-dancing fiesta. Two dancers will take turns dazzling the crowd, who can enjoy tapas and Spanish wine. No cover, but reservations are recommended. 8:45 PM.

See the second and final night of the National Players’ production of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter at the Olney Theatre Center. The play will help you brush up on the classic tale of hypocrisy and adultery in case you decide to catch the new movie Easy A this weekend. 7:30.
