Tweet Beat: Groundhog Day Edition

Dad humor, duck-liver pâté, and dire reading this week in Washington tweets

Sometimes, following Washingtonian Twitter feeds can feel a bit like the classic Bill Murray flick Groundhog Day. Day in and day out, the same events seem to happen again and again. However—as Murray’s character learns in the film—it’s the small things that make each day unique. This week, those variations include meditations on robot milkmaids, blizzards, and Punxsutawney Phil himself.

Cat Ommanney: @catommanney Having dinner with @THERealLyndaDC laughing so much on my duck liver pate I can’t drink my wine!!!!

Rough life.

Representative Jim Himes: @jahimes Reading “The Clinton Tapes”. Pretty interesting, and very different from my last read, Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road” (!)

We’re not so sure about that. Apocalyptic novels and presidential memoirs have a lot more in common than you’d think.

Representative Thaddeus McCotter: @ThadMcCotter Time for bed during the blizzard. Will awake to a @RitaMc2 pick up line that works every time: “Pick up the shovel and clear the driveway.”

Dad humor at its finest.

Representative Glenn Thompson: @CongressmanGT Touring successful family dairy farm in Mifflin County using technology including robotic milkers. All without government money. #ag

It’s official: The machines have taken over.

Representative Frank Pallone: @FrankPallone Enjoying Springsteen concert at Stone Pony. Max Weinberg is great too. Can’t beat this on a Saturday night at the Jersey Shore.

Snooki might disagree.

Senator Orrin Hatch: @OrrirnHatch Reintroduced Wolf Management bill, state’s should have the right to determine their own wildlife policies! #utpol

We just hope this doesn’t take priority away from the highly important Jackrabbit Maintenance Act.

Senator John Cornyn: @JohnCornyn

Posted at 8:56 AM: Rolling blackouts reported due to bad Texas weather

Once again, the world’s most famous groundhog proves his worth.
