The Washingtonian’s August issue, which is on newsstands now, has lots of reading material for those who like to keep up on home-design and real-estate trends.

Take a peek inside the homes of local designers who mix pricey items with inexpensive pieces from places like Ikea and Target.  In “Move Right In,” we take a look at six condo buildings that are move-in ready. In boom times buyers were often forced to put down a deposit based on architectural renderings and small samples of countertops. No longer. Developers have postponed new buildings while they try to sell those already completed—giving buyers lots of bargaining power.
