Can you handle the DC Fitness Challenge? Starting at 9 AM, there will be a timed mile-long run and four stations testing cardio, flexibility, strength, and endurance. Following the competition, there will be activities like Zumba classes, tug-of-war, and fitness challenges for kids ages 7 to 14. Proceeds from the event go towards preventing childhood obesity. Register ($25) here; adult registration gets a child or youth registration for free.

The Spinal Research Foundation is hosting the inaugural We’ve Got Your Back Run/Walk and Health Fair. Redskins players Rocky McIntosh, Reed Doughty, and James Thrash are serving as chairs. 8:30 AM; register at Active.com. Meet at the SRF headquarters at 1831 Wiehle Avenue in Reston.
