From Sunday, June 12, through Sunday, June 19, Virginia yoga studios will be opening their doors for free and $5 classes as part of Virginia Yoga Week. There are more than 80 classes on the schedule, from Bikram to power yoga—plus a few zumba and belly-dance classes thrown in for fun.
The week begins with a daylong event called Love Your Body at the Reston Town Center pavilion. From 9 to 4 on Sunday, there will be yoga and massage sessions, live music, and more. On Friday evening, Collingwood Library Museum is hosting Yoga on the Potomac, starting at 6:30. The organization YoKid will be there to run a family-friendly yoga session. A $20 suggested donation goes to Give Back Yoga and YoKid.
The closing event on June 19—Free Yoga in the Fresh Air—will take place at Montgomery Park in Old Town. It’ll feature a sampling of yoga classes and a food drive benefiting local nonprofits.
Studios participating in Virginia Yoga Week include Apurva Wellness in Falls Church, Flow Yoga in Leesburg, and Pure Prana and Little River Yoga in Alexandria. For a full schedule and list of classes, go here.
