Local CEO Pays $8 Million for River View

O’Keeffe sold this Old Town house for $3 million.

The PR and marketing business has been good to Stephen O’Keeffe. The founder and CEO of the Alexandria-based technology marketing firm O’Keeffe & Company recently traded up. After selling a five-bedroom, four-bath Colonial in Old Town for $3 million, he paid $8 million for Bellapais, this six-bedroom, eight-bath Federal-style mansion on the Potomac River. While the old house had a two-car garage and seven fireplaces, the new digs were once part of George Washington’s River Farm plantation and sit on 25 acres.

According to Washington Fine Properties, Bellapais is the largest private estate on the Potomac. But it took a while to find a buyer—the house sat on the market for more than four years before O’Keeffe came along.
