Monday, January 26, through Friday, January 30
The Chinese New Year is here, and the Source is celebrating the Year of the Ox with a five-course tasting menu. The meal, which costs $100 ($150 with wine pairings), features tangerine-glazed quail with mao-tai-infused flowering tea; pan-toasted lobster pot stickers; slow-braised oxtail soup; and a trio of house-made desserts including a tangerine-sorbet palate cleanser, a pineapple sticky cake, and a fortune cookie. Tuesday, January 27
Mio is hosting its first-ever beer dinner. Executive chef Nicholas Stefanelli has chosen five seasonal Allagash beers to be paired with a four-course menu. The dinner, which starts at 7:30, costs $90 per person. For reservations, call 202-955-0075.

Wednesday, January 28
Tuscarora Mill, a restaurant in a converted flour mill, hosts a five-course seafood dinner with wine pairings. The menu includes scallop-and-lobster crudo; smoked and seared Alaskan sablefish; Hawaiian monchong; seared Tasmanian king salmon; herb-crusted bigeye tuna; and a hazelnut-and-chocolate mousse. Thursday, January 29
The Clarendon branch of Whole Foods (2700 Wilson Blvd., Arlington) is hosting a Winter Warmers cheese class, where guests will learn about and taste fondue, toasted raclette, and smothered haloumi. The class, which begins at 7, costs $25 per person. Call 703-527-6596 for reservations.

Friday, January 30

Saturday, January 31
TasteDC presents A Day of Chocolate: Chocolate Making 101 at the Wanders Chocolates warehouse (11486 Robertson Dr., Manassas). Chocolatiers Wilhelm and Melanie Wanders will help you create chocolate confections and learn chocolate-making techniques as well as let you sample chocolates. Participants will take home recipes. Sunday, February 1
The elegant, pondside 2941 Restaurant hosts a cheese-and-wine-pairing class with cooking demonstrations followed by lunch with wine. The class includes written recipes and a baguette to take home. Noon to 2; $110 per person. Call 703-270-1500 to sign up.
