Online Antiques Dealer Launches in Washington

If you’re into antiques, you’ve probably already heard of 1stdibs.com. Launched in 2001, the popular site is an online dealer of antiques, 20th century furniture, and high-end jewelry. Visitors to the site can search the inventories of nearly 700 dealers in more than 20 cities—from New York to Paris to New Orleans to London.

This week, the DC design scene gets a nod from the site, which will be adding a handful of local stores to its vetted list of dealers. According to a press release from the company, the first group of Washington-area dealers invited to join 1stdibs includes four stores in Georgetown—David Bell Antiques, Carling Nichols, Cote Jardin Antiques, and Darrell Dean Antiques—as well as Spurgeon Lewis Antiques in Alexandria.

Starting Wednesday, you’ll be able to search for—and negotiate the prices on—pieces from those five stores. We also hope to see some of their items in the weekly Saturday Sale, where dealers have been known to offer items for as much as 70 percent off.
