Things to Do

Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

What to do for fun this week.

Monday, November 30: Dream Party
When life gives you lemons, make . . . an indie-electro dance party. Both the Imogen Heap and Pixies shows are sold out, but tickets are still available for the Ohio-based duo Gil Mantera’s Party Dream at DC9. Tickets ($10) can be purchased here. 9 PM.

Tuesday, December 1: Just Dance!
The inner workings of one of the world’s best dance companies, the Paris Opera Ballet, are exposed in the documentary La Danse: The Paris Opera Ballet, which wraps up its special engagement run at the AFI Silver Theatre this week. The film plays today at 12:30 and 3:30 as well as Thursday at 7. Tickets ($10) can be purchased here.

Wednesday, December 2: Trivial Pursuits
Wake up from your tryptophan-induced coma by testing your knowledge in SmartAss!, Nellie’s Sports Bar’s version of trivia. Two games, each with three rounds of six questions plus a special round, are held at 8 and 9. Make sure to arrive early to catch a table—and enjoy the bar’s “beat the clock” happy hour from 6 to 8.

Thursday, December 3: Art is . . .
That’s the question and theme of tonight’s Phillips Collection after-hours event. Inspired by Duncan Phillips, the museum’s founder and a devoted lover of and writer about art, attendees are encouraged to text their definitions of what art is to a host of DJs who will then project responses on the museum’s walls. Jazz pianist Janelle Gill will perform. Attendance is by donation. 5 PM.
