Cork Market & Tasting Room in DC’s Logan Circle landed on Bon Appétit magazine’s list of the ten best places in the country to get fried chicken. Writer Andrew Knowlton says he likes the precooked, heat-at-home pieces hot or cold. Our experience was a little underwhelming—we couldn’t get over the thin skin and the odd flavor (was that soy sauce in the crust?).
The storefront at 1608 14th Street, Northwest, has been papered up for months with a little sign announcing the arrival of Diamond District Seafood Company, chef Barton Seaver’s planned restaurant/fish market. Wednesday, Missy Frederick of the Washington Business Journal reported that Seaver dropped the idea after some undisclosed issues with the business. He’s working on seafood-centric cookbook, due next spring.
The Hill Is Home blog wrote yesterday that the French-style crepe trend keeps growing, with a new crepe spot set to open at 15th and C streets, Southeast. Called Crepes on the Corner, it’s the business that was originally planned for 14th Street, Northwest, according to Metrocurean.
Last night, Washingtonian wine and food editor Todd Kliman wrote on Twitter that Inox, the recession-be-damned restaurant in Tysons Corner, is closing today. Tim Carman of the Washington City Paper followed up with a phone call to the place today, and the woman on the other line denied an imminent closure. She said the restaurant will be open today and tomorrow.
