FreeFest, Wilco, and Elvis Costello: Get Your Tickets

The big festival to check out on September 10 is the Virgin Mobile FreeFest at the Merriweather Pavilion in Columbia. Featuring big names like the Black Keys, Cee Lo Green, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and deadmau5, there will be a bit of everything for music fans. Tickets are free. Like Virgin Mobile Live on Facebook to snag the freebie on Friday at 10 AM.

Wilco comes to the Merriweather Pavilion as part of its Fall North American tour on September 25. Band leader Jeff Tweedy and the rest of Wilco will be promoting their new album, The Whole Love, which drops two days after the concert on September 27. Tickets ($30 to $40) go on sale this Saturday at 10 AM and can be purchased at Ticketfly.

Dubbed the “best bar band in America” by WXPN’s World Cafe, The Hold Steady comes to the 9:30 Club on September 1. The Brooklyn-based band is known for its riffs and narrative-based songs. Tickets ($25) go on sale Thursday, July 21 at 10 AM and can be purchased at Ticketfly.

The Weepies bring their fresh, indie music to the 9:30 Club on September 5. The married duo’s tour last year sold out; this year their intimate Summer Acoustic Tour will include 22 stops. Tickets ($30) go on sale Thursday, July 21 at Ticketfly.

British singer-songwriter Elvis Costello will take the Warner Theatre stage on September 29 with his trademark black eyeglasses. Tickets ($69.50 to $125) go on sale Friday at 10 AM and can be purchased at Ticketmaster. Those who get their tickets that day will receive a one-year subscription to Rolling Stone magazine.
