Smooth Moves: 3 Recommended At-Home Waxing Options

Beach and pool season is here. Here’s how and where to remove hair as thoroughly and painlessly as possible.

Some might consider do-it-yourself waxing the ultimate in beauty risk-taking, but for those confident enough to apply the wax—and courageous enough to rip it off—here are three recommended options for wax-it-yourself success.

1. Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit
$48 at Sephora
Just heat the pre-filled cup of wax in the microwave and follow the relatively easy instructions. The kit also comes with a pre-wax cleanser and a soothing oil to calm skin before and after.

2. Veet EasyWax Electrical Roll-On Kit
$30 at area drugstores
A separate base plugs in to warm the wax inside the applicator in about 30 minutes. Once it’s heated, roll on the wax, apply the cotton strips, and pull off unwanted hair.

3. Shobha Sugaring Kit
$30 at myshobha.com
This kit includes Shobha’s signature sugaring gel, which is heated in a microwave, plus denim strips that are weightier and easier to pull than most strips; they’re also washable in case you want to reuse them.
