Playful Yellow and Gray Chevron Wedding at Doukenie Winery

Sean McMahon and Rochelle Scott tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony on September 13, 2014.

The Doukenie Winery made a perfect backdrop for Sean McMahon and Rochelle Scott’s September nuptials—especially since the sweeping field of yellow flowers fit right in with their yellow and gray color scheme. We love how they took advantage of all the vineyard had to offer, snapping shots in front of the big red barn on the property, and celebrating amidst the lush green scenery in a big white tent. The first time Sean and Rochelle met, they were walking down the aisle together. It wasn’t a “married at first sight,” situation, however—they were paired as bridesmaid and groomsman at Sean’s cousin and Rochelle’s childhood friend’s wedding. While Sean swooned over Rochelle’s amazing blue eyes, she was taken with his sweet and energetic disposition. After the wedding, they stayed in touch as Sean returned to Virginia and Rochelle headed back to her home in Ohio. They eventually planned a trip to meet up with their newly wedded friends in Boston, after which they couldn’t wait long to see one another again. Rochelle traveled a few weeks later to visit Sean in Virginia, where he wooed her with a chicken parmigiana dinner.

They’d dated just over two years when they made plans to decorate their Christmas tree together. Though Sean had planned on popping the question after the tree was decorated, Rochelle had it in mind to set up all the outdoor decorations first. In order to keep his plan in motion, Sean took her hand in front of the bare tree and asked Rochelle to imagine it was sparkling with ornaments, before pulling out the ring.

For their wedding on September 13, 2014, at Doukenie Winery, the pair planned for a chic celebration with many yellow and gray accents. The couple handmade a signpost to display all the places family had traveled from to join them on their big day, custom corn hole boards decorated with a yellow pattern and their wedding date, and the flower girls wore yellow and gray chevron stripped dresses.

After a night of dancing under the starts and eating the three-tiered raspberry-lemonade and red velvet cake, Sean and Rochelle headed off to their honeymoon on the beautiful island of Antigua.
