After a long weekend celebrating the new year, Marisa and Patrick easily could have spent New Year’s Day in 2012 seated on their respective couches. Instead, they found themselves out with mutual friends at Town Hall. They met briefly, and when their paths crossed once more a few weeks later at another mutual friend’s birthday, their mutual attraction led to a first date. Patrick wisely waited to take Marisa out the day after Valentine’s Day, sparking a month of weekly dates, culminating with a big bash on Marisa’s St. Patrick’s Day birthday.

They’d dated for two years when Marisa and Patrick took a trip to New York City to attend a Duke basketball game at Madison Square Garden. They spent the next morning exploring New York, which involved a carriage ride through Central Park, before heading to lunch at the Champagne Bar at The Plaza Hotel. They ordered two glasses of champagne, and as the waiter stepped away, Marisa looked back at Patrick to find him down on one knee. The proposal was followed by a surprise visit to The Greenbrier, where both their families met them to continue celebrating the happy news.

Nearly a year later, they married on an early December day with a chic black, white, and gold-themed ceremony. Both big Nationals fans, a highlight of the night was when the Racing Presidents visited the dance floor.

Fresh white linens and boxwood planter centerpieces added a clean and elegant touch to their reception decor. Guests ate from the four-tiered gold cake and took home winter green macaroons in monogrammed bags at the end of the night, while the happy couple sought out warmer temperatures on a Maui honeymoon.
