Two Country Mansions

What’s special: This 48-room mansion, set on 600 acres with the mountains as a backdrop, may make you feel as though you’re visiting a wealthy friend’s estate. The interior and exterior are exquisite; in 2015, the property earned the Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Award. Guests can play tennis, enjoy the spa, swim in the infinity pool, and golf at Pete Dye’s Full Cry course, where the holes traverse the scenic rolling terrain below the mansion’s perch on the property’s high ground. Beyond the grounds, you can explore nearby Charlottesville, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, and wineries.

The deal: The “Full Cry Golf Package” includes a one-night stay, one round of golf on Full Cry (with cart and complimentary same-day replay), and unlimited access to the resort’s practice facility and driving range. A second golfer may be added for $80. Prices start at $399. Mention Washingtonian when booking by phone, or use it as the promo code when booking online, and receive 10 percent off of the Full Cry Package.
