New This Week: Momofuku Picnic Baskets, 2 Birds Frozen Happy Hour

Momofuku will cater your summer picnic

Forget cheese and crackers—Momofuku CCDC will cater your weekend picnics with to-go baskets offered Friday through Sunday (24 hour notice required). Options include a two-person meal with steamed buns, noodle/rice bowls, and salads ($50), or a four-person fried chicken feast ($100).

2 Birds 1 Stone breaks out the blender for happy hour

1800 14th St., NW

If you love cooling off with margaritas and piña coladas, this 14th Street basement bar is the place to be this summer. Barman Adam Bernbach whips up frozen happy hour cocktails for $9, Tuesday through Saturday, from 6 to 8 pm. Each day of the week features one special drink (we’ll see you over mudslides on Friday).

Bar Civita launches daily patio happy hour

2609 24th St., NW

Take advantage of al fresco discounts at this Woodley Park Italian/American eatery, which simultaneously rolls out its covered patio and happy hour for the summer (daily, 4:30 to 7). Specials include $8 spritzes, $20 carafes of wine, and  cheap eats like mussels in smoked tomato broth ($8) meatballs ($5), and a burger on house-made beer bread ($10).

Estadio dishes up paella specials

New chef Rufino Bautista offers paella specials on Wednesdays during dinner service for four-to-five guests. The weekly-rotating lineup might include rice dishes with seafood, or chicken and chorizo. A vegetarian option is always available (specials run $26 to $55).

Whaley’s opens its patio, plus a bar menu

301 Water St., SE

The new Navy Yard seafood spot from the DGS Delicatessen team introduces a bar menu with snacks like crawfish hushpuppies and trout caviar-topped potato chips, plus $10 cocktails (Sunday through Thursday, 5 to 7 pm). Want to dine in the sunshine? Head to the 26-seat patio for the full menu, opening Wednesday.

Esencias Panameñas rolls out regional Panamanian specialties

3322 Georgia Ave., NW

Starting Sunday, chef/owner Yadira Stamp will highlight classic fare from Panama with specials from different regions, starting with Bocas del Toro and Chiriquí the week of June 19th.
