Wax Michael Phelps Visits DC Pool

Michael Phelps, you are supposed to be in Rio, not at a DC pool! Oh wait, that wasn’t the flesh-and-blood Michael Phelps at Banneker Pool Friday. It was a wax Michael Phelps figure courtesy of Madame Tussauds, which imported the figure from San Francisco to celebrate the Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.

According to a release from Madame Tussauds, “Phelps’ figure looked right at home. Children were invited to participate in swim competitions where the grand-prize winner took home free admission for a family of 4 to the famed DC attraction.” Wax Michael Phelps then returned to the museum, where he “will take his place in the attraction amongst other sports superstars,” the release says.
