Bethesda native Katie Ledecky just got back from Rio de Janeiro with five Olympic medals around her neck, and she returned to a place that’s near and dear to her heart. The 19-year-old swimmer visited the Seacrest Studios at Children’s National Health System for an interview with patients and hospital CEO Kurt Newman. She shared what it’s like to compete in the Olympics and encouraged kids to go for the gold.

Ledecky’s connection to Children’s National traces back to even before she started swimming; Newman is her former soccer coach and neighbor. The Olympian also made an appearance at the DC hospital’s when it opened the multimedia broadcast studio.
