The Confetti Cannons at This Virginia Wedding are Such a Fun Surprise

Weddings should be fun, and we love how well Kylene Jennings and Matt Henson’s celebration lived up to that by including confetti cannons, bold colors, and not one but two fabulous cakes. Take a peek at their big day below in the photos by Katelyn James.

After meeting at work, Kylene and Matt remained just friends for four long years before either made a move. During the course of their friendship, they got along easily, and a shared sense of humor and taste in movies and friends helped them to grow close. When they were ready to turn their relationship into something more serious, Matt invited Kylene over for a movie night on Valentine’s Day. Before Kylene left for the night, Matt made his feelings known as he handed her a rose, “like I was on the Bachelor or something!” Kylene jokes.

They’d dated for over three years when Kylene planned to take Matt to Las Vegas for his birthday. The pair stayed at the Linq, which has a massive Ferris wheel-style observation tower known as the High Roller, which Kylene and Matt had seen being built on past trips to Las Vegas. On this trip, Matt signed the two of them up to take a ride. Matt rented out one of the High Roller cabins, and when they reached the top of the High Roller, Matt got down on bended knee to ask Kylene to be his wife.

For their July wedding, the pair married at the same church that Kylene’s parents had wed over three decades prior. Their preppy, hot pink, and navy wedding was accented with hot pink florals alongside the navy bridesmaid dresses and table linens. At the reception, the newlyweds entered under the flurry of a confetti cannon, and Kylene’s mother’s quartet wowed the crowd with a performance of “I’m Into Something Good.”

Party goers were given pink and blue sunglasses with the wedding hashtag printed on them and went home at the end of the night with koozies customized with the couple’s monogram. After cutting into their monogram-topped cake, the playful newlyweds exited the party to the Star Wars theme song with purple light sabers in hand.
