Mezcal Monday: Kick off your week the right way: with a mezcal tasting at chef José Andrés’s Mexican eatery, Oyamel. Stop by on Monday between 4 pm and 7 pm to enjoy samples from one of the restaurant’s liquor purveyors, and a custom-made cocktail. Paired bites will also be available for $1 to $3.

Food photography talk: If you’re interested in food and photography, you don’t want to miss a talk this Tuesday by photographer Scott Suchman. Head to the former Spanish ambassador’s residence in Columbia Heights from 5 pm to 6 pm to hear about Suchman’s career, built upon mouth-watering food pics for Washingtonian (where he’s a contributing photographer), the Washington Post magazine, Southern Living, and more. Click here for more information about the talk, which is part of FotoWeekDC.

Popovers and prizes: BLT Steak is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Tuesday by hiding 10 “golden tickets” inside its famous popovers. The tickets can be redeemed for prizes including a wine tasting for four people, a wagyu beef tasting for two with chef Jorge Chicas, and a $250 restaurant gift card.

Wine about it: Have you always wanted to impress dinner guests with your knowledge of wine? You’re in luck: The restaurant incubator Prequel is hosting a master class on wines from Languedoc, a region in the south of France, this Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Click here to purchase a $35 ticket.

Keep wining: DC restaurants and bars are celebrating the annual release of Beaujolais Nouveau, a red wine from the Beaujolais region of France, on Thursday. ENO Wine Bar is offering the wine for $11 per glass or $55 per bottle. Malmaison is also hosting a party with crêpes and live entertainment; tickets cost $10 to $30 depending on how many chilled glasses of Beaujolais Nouveau you plan on drinking throughout the evening.

Cashmere and caviar: After returning from a trip to Italy, the owners of Via Umbria are hosting an event featuring products from the Umbria region of the country. Head to the Georgetown market on Friday or Saturday between 10 am and 6 pm to shop for garments like cashmere sweaters, scarves, and hats while enjoying caviar and other bites from chef Johanna Hellrigl. Between the food and the clothing, make sure you have one hand free for a glass of prosecco.
