Hey Peeps! The best part of our job is getting out of the studio and into the community all around the Beltway. We’ve made great friends and collected memories along the way. Each month we’ll share our travels.
The best things we did recently:
• Welcomed Santa Claus to Tysons Corner on November 10
Tysons Corner Center does it up right for the holidays, Santa arrived on November 10 for his stay at the mall for the holiday season. He was greeted with Christmas songs from the Spring Hill Elementary Choir in Vienna, Virginia. There was a cookie-making station and of course photo opportunities with the big man himself. Santa is hanging out at his HQ in the mall until December 24.
• Honored our heroes at the 94.7 Fresh FM Veterans Day show on November 11
The Tommy Show honored active duty military, veterans, and their families with a live show with an incredible audience of 100. Patriotic songs were performed by the Army band Down Range, and CBS Radio Washington kicked off their annual campaign to raise money for the nonprofit Wreaths Across America, ensuring that every marker at Arlington National Cemetery receives a holiday wreath this season.
• Walked to End Women’s Cancer on November 6
Thousands of women dressed in their festive purple wear gathered on a cold morning at Freedom Plaza for the annual 5k. Since 2009, the National Race to End Women’s Cancer has brought together women and men of all ages from across the country. The race celebrated survivors, honored loved ones and raised awareness. Camille Grammer from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills again served again as chairwomen of the sixth-annual race.
