Luxury Along the Delaware River

What’s special: This four-diamond, pet-friendly resort on Maryland’s Eastern Shore offers a lot to do: championship golf with a spectacular waterfront finishing hole, indoor and outdoor pools (depending on weather, the outdoor pool could be open through September), tennis, miniature golf, jogging trails, boating, a fitness center, and a tranquil spa. The views are mesmerizing. All the rooms have been newly renovated with a contemporary look. It also offers a lot of dining options, including seafood at Blue Point Provision, the more casual Water’s Edge Grill as well as the Bay Country Market, and lunch at the Eagles Nest Bar & Grille near the golf course. Michener’s Library, the spectacular lobby lounge with a two-story glass wall bordered by stone fireplaces, is a great spot for a cocktail.

A Maine Retreat

What’s special: This boutique hotel is the only hotel in southern Maine right on the beach. It exudes seaside chic with luxurious rooms featuring Frette linens and marble-and-stainless bathrooms. The restaurant serves contemporary New England food with such dishes as lobster rolls and seared shrimp and scallops with lobster fried rice.
