This Couple Never Got Their “Classic DC” Wedding Portraits. So Three Years After Their Wedding, They Staged The Perfect Shoot.

When Christine Constantino and Chris Riedel wed at Dupont Circle one autumn evening in September of 2014, the couple didn’t think too much of the fact that it would get dark early, and they wouldn’t be able to get those classic DC outdoor couples portraits. After years lamenting that they never got the shots, Chris and Christine reached out to Jof Panlaqui of Joffoto to recreate their day. The shoot happened at a duly special time: Christine had just discovered she was pregnant. Images of their anniversary shoot below courtesy of Joffoto with flowers by Fresh Bouquet LLC.

In 2010, Christine, an IT Manager, and Chris, a Data Analytics Manager, were both working at a consulting company, clocking in long hours with lots of travel. Though they worked together on projects regularly, they never seemed to disagree over how to manage resources. Christine was drawn to Chris’s intelligence and naturally kind demeanor, not to mention his bright blue eyes.

Chris, for his part, nearly developed a neck cramp watching for Christine in the office. He remembers how there was a door located near his desk which Christine occasionally came through. Anytime anyone entered or exited, the door would beep. Over time, Chris became conditioned to turn his head to check every time the door beeped. “Her smile was bright, warm, and infectious,” he recalls. “It was worth checking because there was about a one-in-thirty chance I’d catch a glimpse of her.”

Under the guise of catching up over a work happy hour, Chris and Christine eventually arranged for a casual after-work date. After an evening spent talking in a quiet out-of-the-way bar, it became obvious that there was something between the two of them. According to the couple, “the first kiss became the inevitable conclusion to the night.”

When Christine and Chris wed in Dupont Circle the following September, they ended up deciding on an evening ceremony, tying the knot at about 7pm. That meant no beautiful couples shots out and about around the city. After years lamenting that they never got the “classic DC” shots, Chris and Christine reached out to Jof Panlaqui of Joffoto to recreate their day, with a classic DC twist. Three years later, the couple got their beautiful couples photos at the Jefferson Memorial on a bright summer day in July.
