Brooke and Chris held a classic downtown DC wedding in September. “Being in downtown DC was crucial for us,” says Brooke, “the majority of our guests were flying in and we wanted them to get the full experience of visiting the city.” They chose Hotel Washington for its proximity to the monuments, and its elegance and glamour. “We let the hotel speak for itself,” says Brooke, noting that they used only simple decor and minimal floral arrangements in a green, white, gold, and black color palette to emphasize Hotel Washington’s existing aesthetic and ambiance.
During golden hour following the ceremony, guests were invited to Hotel Washington’s rooftop, The Vue, for cocktails with panoramic views. Specialty cocktail bar signs, hand-painted by the bride herself, and cocktail napkins with an illustration of their dog Leo, added personalization. “Hosting the cocktail hour at The Vue rooftop was our big splurge and worth every penny. There’s nothing quite like that view with that pink sunset,” says Brooke.
As for their wedding menu, passed hors d’oeuvres included mini tacos, pot stickers, pork biscuits, mini crab cakes, coconut chicken, and Caprese skewers. Following appetizers, guests enjoyed local greens salads, and the choice of salmon, roast chicken, or beef tenderloin for their main course. At the end of the night, a cake confection featuring Funetti and vanilla buttercream icing was cut and served.
