Celebrate DC Design Week with Super Art Fight, “a live art event” at Artisphere. The Baltimore-based project stages a friendly competition between illustrators and designers in which the audience decides the winner as a new work of art is created. There’s also a cash bar. 7 to 9. Free.

Busboys and Poets
’ Mount Vernon Square location is hosting a panel about panels—and other elements of comics and graphic novels as well. “In Between the Panels: D.C.’s Emergence on the Graphic Novel Scene” features artists Matt Dembicki, Carolyn Belefski, Molly Lawless, and Mike Rhode and is sponsored by the Women’s National Book Association. There will also be food and drinks. 6 to 8; free.

Wind down with a glass of wine and an art show. The 1869 Society is hosting a reception at the Hamiltonian Gallery, where the latest exhibits, Elena Volkova’s “Proofs” and Renee Van Der Stelt’s “Recordings,” are on display.
