Here are two words we love to hear together: free yoga.

And for the next several weeks, there will be plenty of it. September is National Yoga Month, which means local studios offer lots of deals to encourage and educate people about the health benefits of yoga.

Here’s how it works: Head to the Yoga Health Foundation’s website and sign up for a Yoga Month card. That will get you one free week of yoga at participating local studios. (Call the studio ahead of time to make sure the card will be accepted.) Georgetown Yoga, Yoga Chai, and Down Dog Yoga have already confirmed they are participating.

The following studios will also be offering specials and discounts throughout September.

12 Classes for $40
For a seriously low price, you can register for Anacostia Yogi’s 12-week Soulful Flow Yoga class package, which starts September 17. Instructor Sariane Leigh teaches at Hillcrest Recreation Center. “This is a great series for students who want to explore a deeper yoga practice,” she says.

Discounted Monthly Membership Fee
Starting September 1, Past Tense Studio will offer a monthly membership fee for $99, discounted from $109. Students who sign up for a membership before their ten-day trial ends get an extra $10 off the first month.

Free Community Classes
Beginning September 9, Capitol Hill Yoga will offer free classes every Sunday from 6 to 7 PM. They are open to all levels.

Yoga Workshop Every Weekend
To celebrate National Yoga Month, Flow Yoga Center in Logan Circle will offer a workshop every weekend, including Yoga for Stress and Burnout and a Yoga Trance Dance workshop.

Free Week of Classes
Starting today until September 9, Circle Yoga is offering a free week of classes for new and returning students. All classes are first-come, first-serve. Visit the website for more information.

Buy a Class, Bring a Friend (for Free!)
If you buy a class at Lil Omm Yoga for September 4, you can bring a friend for free. (Then make her pay for brunch after!) Lil Omm has a number of other specials going on throughout the month, including a free Itsy Bitsy Yoga class for newborns on the 21.

Discounted Yoga Mats
All yoga mats sold at Tranquil Space in Dupont Circle and Arlington will be 15 percent off for the entire month. The studios will also host a number of workshops, including yoga for anxiety, teaching yoga to veterans experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder, and prenatal yoga.
