Drink Up: Take a Cocktail Class

The one and only Gina Chersevani.

You’ve read about cocktail guru Gina Chersevani. You’ve seen Chersevani in action. Now, you can enroll in a series of cocktail classes to be taught by Chersevani herself.

“Basically it’s a happy hour with me,” says the always animated Chersevani. “We’ll make the cocktails together and then sit back, drink and grab a bite.”

The idea for the classes, which start October 15 and run almost every other Wednesday through December 17 at EatBar, came, Chersevani explains, from her patrons: “People kept asking me how to make certain drinks, and I’d get e-mails asking for recipes. I’ve taken cooking classes and know how useful they can be, so I just wanted to help people out.”

Classes will have a specific theme, some focusing on certain spirits (“The Showdown: Gin vs. Vodka”) and others on holiday drinks (“Witches’ Brew” and “New Year’s Cocktails to Remember All Year,” for example). Additionally, snacks meant to be paired with the cocktails will be prepared by executive chef Andrew Markert.

The price for a single class is $48 per person. You can also sign up for all five classes for $220. “For what you’ll learn and get to drink and eat, it’s a bargain,” says Chersevani. Each class will accommodate about 30-35 people, according to Chersevani. We’ve included the class schedule below. To make reservations for a cocktail class, call Rodney Salinas at 202-905-4215.
