Head to Zola for its Bar Fun at Five menu, featuring $1.50 bar bites such as a lamb-meatball slider, pulled barbecue pork, and steak-and-cheese sliders. You can get the menu Thursday through Saturday from 5 to 7, plus a late night version from 9 to 11. Sunday, it’s available from 5 to 10.
Speed counts at Sticky Rice’s Blingo, six rounds of the fastest bingo you’ve ever seen. Prizes go to the winners, but everybody can get their hands on the beer specials—less than $3. Thursday at 11.
Potenza is launching a Pizza & Peroni special this weekend, where bargoers can get a pizza and a pint for $10. The special is available Thursday from 8 to 11, Friday and Saturday 8 to midnight, Sunday 8 to 11.
Start the long weekend with the 11th annual Midtown Liberty Bar Tour Friday. This pub crawl among several downtown DC bars includes such specials as $2 Coors Light bottles and $4 Absolut drinks. Registration is from 5 to 10 at Mackey’s Pub. Specials go from 5 to midnight. Tickets are $10 with two cans of food for charity.
Dance your way back to the ’80s at CryFest Friday at the Black Cat. It’s a Cure-versus-Smiths dance party, and you’re sure to recognize some tracks from that mixtape you made way back when. $10; 9 PM.
Laurel celebrates the Fourth of July a day early at Saturday’s Independence Day Celebration at Granville Gude Park (8300 Mulberry St., Laurel; 301-725-7800). Check out a classic-car parade, a horseshoe contest, and musical performances, then cap the night off with fireworks. 11 AM.
The Fourth of July celebration at the National Archives runs Sunday from 8:30 AM to 2 PM. Watch a performance by the Fife and Drum Corps, sign a facsimile of the Declaration of Independence, and hear a reading of the document by historical reenactors portraying Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin.
Don’t forget about the fireworks on the Mall, the best place to be on Independence Day. Sunday at 9.
Town Danceboutique hosts WTF?, a night of performance art, DJs, an indoor barbecue, and more surprises that are sure to make this event live up to its name. $5; Sunday 10 PM to 3 AM.
