Washingtonian oenophiles have plenty to celebrate in Wine Enthusiast’s August issue, which includes their list of America’s 100 Best Wine Restaurants. Six Washington eateries made it into the Northeast category, joining the likes of New York’s legendary Daniel and Momofuku Má Pêche.
The editors emphasized “unique wine programs,” including Doi Moi’s collection “from the restaurant’s backyard in Virginia to Macedonia, Chile, and Serbia,” and Minibar’s unusual selection that offers the ability to order any wine or vintage in the world given three weeks notice (not to mention a price range from $140 to $6,000). Other noted wine programs include those at Estadio, Fiola, Red Hen, and Ripple; the latter just received a RAMMY for Wine Program of the Year. Spike Gjerde’s Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore also made the list.
