Pillows and Cookware: Gifts for Your Bridesmaids

We asked the owners of some of the best DC-area boutiques to share their favorite wedding-party gift ideas. This week’s expert: John Helm of Red Orchard in Bethesda

Red Orchard, located in the Wildwood Shopping Center in Bethesda, features lots of bridesmaid gift ideas, but what are owner John Helm’s current favorites?

For bridesmaids who are whizzes in the kitchen (or at least attempting to be), Helm suggests two items from Beehive Kitchenware—the measuring spoons featuring engraved quotes (photo one, $52) and a heart-shaped spatula (photo four, $48). “These pieces make thoughtful, unusual, useful gifts with a lot of heart,” says Helm.

Another option: handcrafted pillows made from recycled water bottles by Alexandra Ferguson. We like the “Damn Good Friends” (photo three) pillow for a cheeky sentiment, but the “Happily Ever After” version (photo two) might be a bit more wedding-appropriate. Both pillows are $88 for a 16-by-16-inch size, $120 for 22-by-22-inch size, and are available in a variety of colors.

Visit Red Orchard’s Web site for more information.
