Where & When: Fashion Edition

Here it comes—Black Friday! For some it means running wild in shopping malls; for others it means hiding out until the crowds die down. If you’re one of the shoppers, you might want to check out some of these weekend events.

Through Sunday, November 30: You can always use a new pair of jeans, right? National Jean Company’s two local shops (Reston and Bethesda) are giving shoppers 30 percent off the highest-priced item they buy and 20 percent off additional purchases. Don’t miss this opportunity to get discounted designer denim!

Friday, November 28: Bloomingdale’s in Tysons Corner Center is hosting an Abby Joy Jewelry trunk show from 11 to 5. Each piece in the collection is made with a hand-sculpted wax mold and then crafted into silver or gold. Also, each piece has a designated charity that receives 5 percent of the price on each sale;

The Dupont Circle boutique Green and Blue is starting its monthlong holiday sale on Friday. There’ll be 20 to 50 percent off on winter pieces from designers including Rebecca Taylor and Yoanna Baraschi. Sale ends December 31.

The shops of Bethesda Row are hosting a Black Friday fashion sale. There’ll be carriage rides, hot chocolate, and discounts. Tickled Pink will be offering discounts all day, and Urban Chic and Ginger boutique will offer 50 percent off from 9 to 10 AM, 40 percent off from 10 AM to 1 PM, and 30 percent off during the rest of the day and through November 30. 

Two times a year, the DC government gives us a holiday from the 5.75 percent sales tax on clothing and accessories under $100. This year it starts at 12:01 AM on Black Friday and runs through December 7. For more info, visit the Office of Tax and Revenue.

Monday, December 1: Here’s a little something for Project Runway fans. Daniel Vosovic, a past contestant and fan favorite on the show, will be at the Corcoran Gallery of Art sharing insider stories and giving advice on the fashion world today. Following his talk, he’ll sign copies of his new book, Fashion Inside Out: Daniel V’s Guide to How Style Happens From Inspiration to Runway and Beyond.
