A look at the best home design bargains on the web.
Restoration Hardware’s Dakota Oval Hook

I love a good mudroom. Even though it doesn’t have the polish of the rest of the house, a mudroom tells your guests,  “People live here.” It’s warm and nostalgic. What’s more, why not get a little more mileage out of that adorable scarf collection or those fun rain boots that have been hiding in your closets?

That’s where my mind immediately went when I saw this hook at Restoration Hardware, down from $22 to $15.99. While I love that old school look, the price still seems high for a single hook, so I went on a hunt. Anthropologie has more decorative hooks on sale for $7.95, down from $18. For 19.99, you can get a whole row of coat hooks on a rail at Target, and you could probably unfasten them from the board if you just wanted to use the six hooks.

JC Penney’s Clarke Bench

Stick a bench underneath your hooks, put your shoes under the bench, and you have yourself a mudroom! Pottery Barn has simple benches with a modern twist on sale for $169. Not so keen on having your muddy hiking boots out for all to see? Try JC Pennney’s Clarke Bench, down from $380 to $199. If you want to brighten things up, check out CB2’s Sol console table instead of a bench. It’s marked down from $299 to $249.
