Last I checked, the economy was looking up—but the news hasn’t yet reached many furniture and home stores, several of which are slashing prices on surplus stock. You can find quality items from top retailers for a steal. Here are a few of my favorite pieces:
Pottery Barn is having an as-long-as-it-lasts clearance sale—and it’s not going to last long. Some prices have dipped as low as 75 percent off their original price—including this 16-by-144-inch all-linen table runner, originally $79 and now going for $19.99. I love the border’s hand-cut detail. A word of advice to bargain hunters: Be sure to check carefully which sizes and colors are still available. Only one size of this runner is left.
Also from Pottery Barn are these throw-pillow covers, piano-striped in classic black-and-white ticking. These would look great against a sage or butter-yellow couch or on top of a neutral bedspread. They were originally $39 apiece, but you can snag them now for $12.99.
Crate & Barrel’s fall upholstery sale is in full swing. Get 15 percent off C&B’s Stock and Stock Plus upholstery collections, which include gorgeous sectionals, love seats, sofas, and living-room chairs. I fell in love with the elegant lines of the Ella side chair; the $339 sale price is a $60 discount from the original.
If you’re in the market for a versatile couch that can handle kids’ movie night on Tuesday and a dinner party on Wednesday, check out Crate & Barrel’s durable 83-inch lounge sofa, with strong, contemporary lines and microvelvet upholstery. It’s available in two earthy colors; the price is $1,229, down from $1,449.
Can’t find just the right look? You’re in luck: the upholstery sale also means 25 percent off all custom upholstery. Stop in at Crate & Barrel for a consultation.
