Friday, October 14

COUPLES YOGA: Grab your friend or partner and head to Tranquil Space in Dupont Circle (1632 17th St., NW) for a Partner Yoga session. You and your partner will focus on “connecting the heart” while going through a vinyasa practice. For all levels. $50 for couples if you register online. 7 to 9 PM.

PILATES: From now until October 31, Fuse Pilates is offering a free chair class when you purchase any of its class packages. The studio offers a wide variety of classes, including mat pilates, reformer pilates, and Bridal Bootcamp. Prices vary for each class, but you can sign up for five-, ten-, or 20-class packages. Saturday, October 15

5K: The second annual Rock the Creek 5K is still accepting runners for the three-mile race that starts and finishes at the William Fitzgerald Tennis Center. Participants will receive track bags, race T-shirts, a one-day pass to VIDA Fitness (U Street), and more. Overall winners will receive $50 and a one-month membership to VIDA Fitness. 5K: The GTSI and DC Road Runners will host a charity 5K run and walk to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. By participating, runners will honor the sacrifices made by men and women in the US military. The race will loop through Herndon. Register here. $25. 8:30 AM.

WALK: The seventh annual Buddy Walk fundraiser will take place at Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville this year. Proceeds from the walk will fund the Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia (DSANV). The event will feature kid-friendly activities such as bounce houses, climbing walls, mini golf, a petting zoo, and pony rides. Participants can register the day of starting at 8 AM. $15 for adults, $5 for children under 17. 10 AM to 2 PM.

WALK: The Washington Humane Society will host the DC Walk for Animals at the Marie Reed Learning Center in Adams Morgan to end pet homelessness in DC. There will be family-friendly activities, including games, contests for owners and pets, and more. There will also be adoptable dogs, vaccination and microchipping services available. For more information, click here. $20 for adults, $5 for kids, and free for children under 4. 10 AM to 2 PM.

YOGA: Bring your kids to an outdoor yoga class at the Market in the courtyard at Broad Branch Market (5608 Broad Branch Rd., NW). Parents can participate in the 45-minute session or drop off their kids, ages 2 to 6, for the class. Bring your own yoga mat. $10 per child. 10 AM.


Sunday, October 16

10K: The sixth annual Boo! Run for Life 10K run and two-mile walk will support a renal cell cancer research. The race and walk will both take place in East Potomac Park. Register here. $31 to run, $28 to walk. 8 AM run and 8:05 AM walk.

8K/1-MILE FUN RUN: Acumen Solutions’s Race for a Cause lets you decide what local non-profit organization you want to support. Some charities include the Boys and Girls Club, For Love of Children, and the National Fatherhood Initiative. The race takes place at North Quincy St. in Arlington. Register here. $30 for 8K, $30 for adult one-mile, $20 for kids one-mile. 8 AM.

WORKOUT: Potomac River Running and New Balance will host a free CrossFit workout at the Reston Town Center Pavilion. Wear athletic gear and “be prepared to sweat!” Free. 12 to 1 PM.
