45 Bikes & Hikes: Patapsco Valley State Park

Ellicott City
High Intensity
Patapsco Valley State Park

It’s been called the Moab of the East for its variety of
world-class trails and terrain. The park offers biking in three
sections—Avalon, McKeldin, and Hollofield—along the Patapsco River. The
hardcore Avalon area features single-track trails with steep climbs, fast
descents, and lots of rocks and exposed roots for brain-jarring
excitement. Log ramps, sharp switchbacks, tunnels, rolling hills, open
fields, and water crossings add to the insanity. For more, visit the park’s website.
