New on the Scene: Laura Hooper Calligraphy (Photos)

A high-profile California stationery and calligraphy pro relocates to DC.

We’ve loved Laura Hooper Calligraphy and her whimsical stationery for quite some time, but we love her even more now that she’s joined the local vendor pool. The über-creative designer moved to Washington last month and is now creating her invitations, place cards, menus, and more right in our own backyard, all the better for couples to get to know her talents.

Notable items include heart-shaped drink stirrers, sand-dollar place cards, and fabric totes. Couples with travel-themed weddings should also take note of the vintage-esque compass place cards, adorable boarding-pass wedding invitations, and hand-drawn maps that can be used as save-the-date cards, table numbers, or wine labels. All of Hooper’s work can be customized.

Hooper’s celebrity client list is a veritable who’s who of Hollywood (Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lopez, and Reese Witherspoon, to name-drop a few), so rest assured her work is solid. While she’s still in search of a brick-and-mortar space, she is taking appointments via e-mail at hello@lhcalligraphy.com, and purchases can be made on Etsy. See samples of her work below.
