UPDATED: Fashion Agenda: DC Fashion Week, Lunch Break Shopping

Your guide to the week’s most stylish events.

DC Fashion Week Shows

Monday marked the start of DC’s biannual fashion week, which brings together local and international emerging designers for seven days of parties, presentations, and runway shows. Some events, like a fashion industry mixer on Thursday, are free and open to the public, while the most in-demand shows—like the popular international couture collections showcase —require tickets. See the full schedule of events online. Through Sunday. Multiple area locations.

Clothing Swap at Mellow Mushroom

The Adams Morgan pizza shop’s second annual clothing swap, benefiting Martha’s Table, returns this week. Bring gently used clothing to trade in the item-for-item swap, but don’t worry if your items aren’t picked up—Mellow Mushroom will donate all unexchanged pieces to the local nonprofit. There’ll also be pizza (of course), as well as snacks from ScratchDC and $3 beers from Atlas Brew Works and 3 Star Brewing Company. Wednesday 5:30 to 8:30. 2436 18th St., NW.

Lunch Social at Lou Lou

Here’s an excuse to shop on your lunch break (as if you needed one): The girly accessories boutique will serve small bites in its downtown location Thursday while showcasing its most popular work-to-play jewelry, handbags, and more. Owning a loyalty card—which you can sign up for in the store—earns you 25 percent off any accessory. Thursday noon. 1742 L St., NW.

Fashion for a Fraction

Hosted by Washington City Paper and the Yards, this first-time event brings at least 12 local boutiques to Ideaspace for a day of discounted shopping. Duo, Le Bustiere, and Twisted Aristocrat, among others, will offer denim, handbags, jewelry, and more for a “fraction” of their original prices. Tickets ($5-$15), available in three time slots, are required for attendance. Saturday 9 to 5. 300 Tingey St., SE.

St. Jude Benefit at Intermix

In partnership with local stylist April Yvonne, the luxe retailer this week hosts a soiree for the benefit of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Enjoy a deejay, Champagne, and light snacks while perusing the latest collections of Helmut Lang, Missoni, Jimmy Choo, and more. Ten percent of proceeds from the event go straight to St. Jude. Thursday 6 to 8. 3300 M St., NW.

Fiesta at Tuckernuck

Head to the preppy pop-up Friday for a fiesta-like happy hour that includes more than margs and Mexican food. Score 15 percent off all full-priced items in the shop, which on Friday will spotlight statement baubles by Loren Hope and chic resortwear by Persifor. The latter brand’s designer, Alexandra Thompson, will make an appearance. Friday 3 to 8. 3330 Cady’s Alley, NW.
