Following a successful four-year run on the cobblestone streets of Old Town, girly apparel and accessories boutique Zoe will soon close its doors for the final time. The shop’s well-known owner Susan Gerock, who also works full-time elsewhere, says the success of the boutique has left her facing “a very difficult balancing act” that she’s been unable to keep up with.

“I found that as Zoe became more successful, the demands on my time just got greater. I just didn’t have the time to give to the store, and I’m just not the sort of person who is satisfied with doing anything halfway,” Gerock told Shop Around. The store’s final day in business will be June 8.

An Old Town staple that often partners with nearby Bishop and the local blogging community to create its signature lookbooks, the pink-tinged boutique has consistently been placed in our own Best of Old Town guides for its impressive offerings of feminine contemporary brands such as Trina Turk and Tracy Reese (a Michelle Obama favorite). And while her store may be going away, Gerock says Washington’s close-knit retail and fashion community can still expect to see her around: “There is so much going on in the fashion world and so many opportunities where I believe that technology could have a positive impact.  I hope to soon apply my background in both to some new and exciting developments.”

A plus side for bargain shoppers: in an effort to clear out the boutique, Zoe’s entire stock—from Chan Luu gems to Rebecca Taylor workwear—is currently going for 30 to 40 percent off. You can shop in the store or online via Shoptiques.
