Capitol Hill is sprinkled with handful of restored, repurposed schoolhouses—including the recently converted Edmonds School—and 12th Street’s Lovejoy Lofts boasts many of the features that make these redos so appealing. The turn-of-the-century schoolhouse was converted into 54 condos in 2003, and the renovation combines such modern-industrial design mainstays as concrete floors and exposed ductwork with some of the building’s historic architecture, such as arched doorways, high ceilings, white-washed brick walls, and oversize windows. This two-bedroom condo features all of those goodies—but the best classroom relic in this particular loft? The original blackboard, now a perfectly contemporary decor element of the loft’s open living area. The 980-square-foot condo is listed at $499,900. Check it out below, then head to Re/Max Allegiance for details and the complete tour.
