Friday Dream House: A Restaurateur’s Restored Victorian in Shaw

This four-story rowhouse belongs to EatWell's David Winer, so the kitchen is a knockout, of course.

Even without the boldface name—that’d be current homeowner David Winer of restaurant group EatWell DC, which runs five local eateries including nearby Logan Tavern, Commissary, and the Pig—this place would be impressive. With four bedrooms, five baths, and more than 4,200 square feet of space, the spacious Shaw rowhouse dates back to 1865 but was recently restored to include new windows, modern high-end fixtures and appliances, and wide-plank hickory floors alongside many of the home’s historic details, including the original stairwell and banister, soaring ceilings, and fireplaces. Winer’s background is to thank for the standout custom kitchen, designed with an eye toward drama and outfitted with black marble counters, custom wood-grain cabinets, and an antique mercury-glass backsplash. Elsewhere, there’s a sleekly glam black granite fireplace in the living room, custom silk drapes in the master suite, and lovely outdoor spaces that include both a landscaped back patio and a private roof deck.

It’s listed at $2.395 million. Peek inside below, then go to TTR Sotheby’s to see the rest.
