Pet-Friendly Events in Washington, November 15 to 23

Saturday, November 15

Head over to the Frederick County Fairgrounds for this year’s Holiday Pet Festival. The day will be filled with tons of activities as well as plenty of pets to adopt. Santa will be available for pet pictures from noon to 3, and a children’s craft area will be open all day. Admission to the event is $5; if you want to bring your pet, you must fill out a pet waiver in advance. Children 12 and under are free. Doors open at 10 AM, and the event ends at 4 PM.

At this year’s tree-lighting ceremony at the National Harbor, the Black Dog will host dog photos with Santa. The photos will be taken at the Black Dog Tavern from 2 to 4. The day will include the tree-lighting show and fireworks over the Potomac. Events start at noon, and fireworks are set for 6:30.

Sunday, November 16

The Wylie Wagg store in Fairfax is hosting a pet caricature artist from 11 to 2. Bring your pet and have some fun with a caricature drawing of your pup.

Saturday, November 22

The Washington Animal Rescue League will be at the Yes! Organic Market Adoption Event from noon to 2 PM with a variety of animals. Each has been examined by a veterinarian, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and evaluated by certified trainers.

Sunday, November 23

Visit the PetMAC Adoption Center for its cat adoption event at noon. Homeward Trails volunteers will be there to talk about each animal as well as the adoption process.
