No one does ballroom weddings like DC couples, and Tameka Thomas and Mahlon Lancaster’s nuptials at Washington Plaza Hotel are proof. Classic and elegant, with a few fun touches, all the pretty photos of their day were captured by Memories of Bliss.

Mahlon was on the last week of his trial membership with Match.com when he sent Tameka a wink. He had noticed all of their similar interests, and when she saw his gorgeous smile, she decided to return the wink. Two months of emailing and calling later, they met for a first date at Arundel Mills Mall, where they saw a matinee movie, followed by lunch. All the talking they’d done prior to meeting face-to-face made their conversations easy and comfortable, so by the end of the date, they’d already arranged to see one another the following day.
A year later, Mahlon came to pick Tameka up from her office for their traditional Tuesday night date. While Tameka wasn’t looking, Mahlon placed a small black box on her desk. When she turned back, she was surprised to find the box sitting there, but she was even more surprised when Mahlon walked around to her side of the desk and got down on one knee.
For their May 30, 2015 wedding, they filled their venue with gold accents mixed with classic ivory and green floral arrangements. The classic ballroom reception included the couple’s personal touches: a thumbprint guest book and a caricature artist who drew a portrait of the new Mr. and Mrs.
Guests dined on lemon raspberry cake and snacked on a gourmet popcorn bar, before sending the happy couple away with good wishes for their honeymoon in Mexico.
