You’d Never Guess This Rustic Maryland Wedding Took Place Just an Hour Outside of DC

Not up for an urban wedding? That’s okay because you don’t have to drive far to reach Maryland’s beautiful countryside. Hana Kim and Daniel Chung’s gorgeous rustic wedding in Walkersville, Maryland, captured by Sincereli, feels miles and miles from the hustle and bustle, even though it took place just an hour outside of Washington.

Hana and Daniel had a number of mutual friends when they were working towards their undergraduate degrees at the University of Maryland, and when one of those friends invited Hana to visit Daniel’s bowling class, the interest was immediate. Daniel asked the mutual friend for Hana’s instant messenger screen name, which he used to set up a date. Though the first date had its bumps—Daniel was late to pick Hana up, and then he accidentally spit food at her during dinner—Hana was gracious, so the first date wouldn’t be their last.

They’d dated for seven years when Daniel told Hana he’d won wine tasting vouchers for a local vineyard through a raffle at his graduate school. With the help of Hana’s sister, Daniel arranged for a romantic dinner to go with their wine tasting, after which he took Hana between the rows of vines, got down on one knee, and proposed. When they returned to the main building on the vineyard, their friends were there and ready to celebrate with them.

For their September wedding, they filled the day with some handmade, DIY touches, including the place card board, wedding programs, card box, and table numbers. The rustic setting made for a stunning ceremony view overlooking the fields, while they dressed up the reception with pale blooms and simple, elegant decor in the form of twinkle lights and lavender linens.

Guests sipped from the stocked bar and ate tiramisu for dessert while the bride and groom danced to “How Long Will I Love You”  by Ellie Goulding. After a night of celebrating with loved ones, the happy couple departed with plans to honeymoon in New Zealand.
