See How Chandeliers and Rose Gold Turned a Funky Art Museum into a Super-Glam Wedding Venue

We love the contrast between the exposed brick industrial building and the sparkly chandelier and blush pink decor in Krishna Potarazu and Elizabeth (Liz) Schmidt’s wedding. Their beautiful, urban wedding was captured in the photos below by Alysia & Jayson.

Krishna and Liz met over a decade ago while she was a student at the University of Maryland, and he was enrolled at Johns Hopkins, but things didn’t take off until 2012, when Liz moved back to Baltimore in 2012 after living in San Francisco for five years. Liz was doing a bit of research for her company’s website redesign when she came across the Krishna’s photo on a private equity firm’s site. She decided to make a move, writing an email to him that said, “Hey, I remember you!” A few weeks later, they met up for dinner at The Brewer’s Art in Baltimore.

They’d dated nearly a year and a half when Krishna scheduled a couples massage at the Four Seasons, after which, still in his robe, he got down on one knee to propose. They followed the moment with chocolate covered strawberries and a rose petal bath. Hours later, they cleaned up to go out to dinner at Wit & Wisdom, where Krishna surprised Liz again, this time by bringing together her friends and family from around the country to celebrate.

For their wedding at the American Visionary Art Museum, Liz and Krishna juxtaposed the industrial setting with glam chandeliers and rose gold decor. During the mother-son dance, Krishna and his mom started off in a traditional sway before launching into their own choreographed Bollywood dance.

Their mandap from the ceremony was repurposed as a lounge for the reception beside the dance floor customized with Krishna and Liz’s names. At the end of the night, they sent guests home with cookies shaped like their rescue dog, Parker, before the new Mr. and Mrs. departed to honeymoon with a South African safari and time on the beach in Mauritius.
