Among the many things we love about Italians: their knack for producing luxury leather goods and their delightful penchant for sweets at any hour (breakfast crostata anyone?).
So when we heard Italian shoemakers M.Gemi would be rolling into the district this weekend via a vintage gelato truck, we didn’t bat an eye. Shoe-shopping from a truck that looks as though it just drove out of a Wes Anderson film? Why not.
Beginning this Saturday at 12 noon, the M.Gemi gelato truck, or andiamo, will be parked in Bethesda Row alongside retailers like Lululemon and Bonobos. Customers will be able to shop ten of the label’s best selling men’s and women’s shoe styles ranging from sneakers and flats to heels, with luxe options including suede and calf hair designs.
The truck will be camped out from noon to 7 PM Saturday, November 11th and 11 AM to 6 PM Sunday, November 12th, so expect to see the very Instagrammable store-on-wheels popping up in trendsetters social media feeds all weekend.
Bethesda Row is just one of several stops the M.Gemi truck will be making in the area: it is set to tour in DC and Boston through the month of December. The pop-up is one of the few opportunities customers will have to try the predominately online retailer’s shoes in-person. M.Gemi has just two brick-and-mortar locations in the states, one in Soho and one in Boston.
Oh, and just to clarify the M.Gemi truck is only selling shoes this go-around (no gelato), so customers with a sweet tooth will have to look elsewhere.
