Some of the best shopping in Washington stays up late September 10 for the area’s celebration of Fashion’s Night Out. In support of the Vogue magazine-coordinated international effort to restore consumer confidence in the garment industry, boutiques along the U Street and 14th Street corridors will extend their hours to 11 PM so that the after-work crowd can (finally!) peruse clothes at a leisurely pace. Participants include the following:
• Redeem (1734 14th St., NW) • Rue 14 (1830-A 14th St., NW) • Treasury (1843 14th St., NW) • Palace 5 (2216 14th St., NW) • Dekka (1338 U St., NW) • Stem (1410 U St., NW) • Junction (1510 U St., NW) • Lettie Gooch (1517 U St., NW) • Caramel (1603 U St., NW)
Although Her Majesty Anna Wintour has plans to grace only New York’s celebration with her presence, you can still catch the legendary Vogue editor in Washington. The September Issue—R.J. Cutler’s inside look at the largest fall fashion issue in the history of the magazine—premieres September 11 at Regal Gallery Place, AMC Georgetown , and Landmark Bethesda Row theaters. Washingtonian staffer Sophie Gilbert was lucky enough to see the film during June’s SilverDocs Festival, and we’ve got her review right here. More>> Shop Around Blog | Style | Find a Spa
