Describe your style in ten words or less.
“Eclectic, artistic, modern, inspired by old-world glamour.”
Favorite places to shop in DC?
“Though I’m constantly on the road, I always make an effort to visit Inga’s Once Is Not Enough (430 MacArthur Blvd.; 202-337-3072). It is by far the best vintage shop in Washington. Inga’s work with war veterans and the charitable nature of her business are truly an inspiration.”
Fall gear you can’t wait to wear?
“The fall 2010 fashion shows were full of exquisite, gilded jewelry, shocking, sculpted shoes, and sophisticated, elegant clothing. I’ll be wearing Eddie Borgo cuffs and rings, thigh-high Dsquared2 spine boots, and everything Celine. I appreciate designers that take the season’s classics and put their own twist on them.”
Your signature look?
“I tend to fall back to a great dress, platform high-heels, and tons of jewelry. If I had to wear one thing daily, I would wear a black dress, armor jewelry, and exotic platforms.”
Style icons?
“I look up to Tina Chow, Daphne Guinness, and recently Ina Ginsburg. I grew up in a society without distractions like TV or magazines, so my imagination was free to run wild and my concept of style was an innate development. That’s why I admire women who consistently break the mold and exemplify individual expression.”
Best-dressed DC neighborhood:
“I find the unabashed creativity of today’s youth to be one of the major forces defining DC’s style scene. As such, the Howard/Shaw area’s students get my vote. Their interest in a personal definition of fashion shines through in their colorful, vibrant, and stylized outfits. Women’s Wear Daily had it right calling Howard one of the best-dressed schools in the country.”
