Bastille Restaurant Expands to a Larger Space

Chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux will convert the original into Bistro Royal.

One of our recent 100 Very Best Restaurants is on the move after eight years. A representative for Bastille chef/owners Christophe and Michelle Poteaux says the Alexandria eatery will expand to a new, larger location in the Asher development early next year. While the bistro decor (cozy, dark wood) will carry over from the original property, you’ll find a semi-open kitchen and enhanced capacity with seating for 80 guests, a roomy patio, and a spacious bar. Sommelier Mark Slater will continue to oversee the “wine-centric” drink menu.

Fans of the flagship can still head to 1201 North Royal Street, which will remain under the Poteauxs’ guidance, albeit under a new name, Bistro Royal. The menu aims to be more casual than the new spot, with no-frills bistro fare. Stay tuned for more details as they develop.
